FAYETTEVILLE, Ark., Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Marcus Thornton completed an LSU rally by hitting two free throws with 12 seconds left Wednesday, giving the No. 24 Tigers a 72-69 win over Arkansas.

Arkansas took a 69-66 lead on a foul shot by Michael Washington with 2:13 to play and the Razorbacks did not score again.

Thornton's two shots from the line put LSU in front by three and the Tigers survived a last-season, 3-point attempt by Rotnei Clarke.

Thornton scored 28 points and Tasmin Mitchell added 20 with 13 rebounds for the Tigers (22-4, 10-1 SEC). LSU has won seven in a row and leads the SEC's West Division. The Tigers' only conference loss came in its league opener against Alabama on Jan. 11.

Clarke and Courtney Fortson scored 17 each to lead Arkansas (13-11, 1-10). The Razorbacks have lost six in a row.
