BOGOTA, Feb. 17 (UPI) -- Fifth-seeded Czech Klara Zakopalova won a first-round match Monday at the Sony Ericsson Copa Colsanitas event in Bogota, where rain wiped out several matches.
Zakopalova eliminated Romina Oprandi of Italy 3-6, 7-6 (9-7), 7-6 (7-5).
Before the rain brought the day's action to a premature close, Czech Petra Cetkovska dropped countrywoman Sandra Zahlavova 7-5, 6-2 and Edina Gallovits of Romania beat Barbora Zahlavova Strycova of the Czech Republic 6-2, 6-2.
Catalina Castano of Columbia was leading sixth-seeded Mathilde Johansson of France 7-6 (7-2), 1-0 when rain forced officials to stop play until Tuesday.
Monday matches featuring fourth-seeded Nuria Llagostera Vives of Spain versus Ukrainian Olga Savchuk, and Maria Emilia Salerni of Argentina versus Estonia's Maret Ani were postponed until Tuesday.
