
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 17 (UPI) -- Erik Christensen scored in the fourth round of a shootout Monday night and the Atlanta Thrashers withstood a furious third-period rally to beat Los Angeles 7-6.
Ilya Kovalchuk -- who had a hat trick Sunday in an 8-4 win at Anaheim -- had two goals and an assist Monday night in the Thrashers' fourth straight road victory. Kovalchuk has goals -- and 11 points overall -- in his last five games.
Bryan Little, Todd White and Marty Reasoner each had a goal and an assist, and Colin Stuart scored a goal for Atlanta. Johan Hedberg finished with 39 saves.
Anze Kopitar had two goals and two assists for the Kings -- including a goal with five seconds left in regulation that capped a three-goal third period for the Kings and sent the game to overtime.
Alexander Frolov had a goal and three assists, and Denis Gauthier, Jack Johnson and Jarret Stoll scored for the Kings.
Jonathan Quick was pulled after allowing three goals in the first period. Erik Ersberg finished with 17 saves for LA, which has lost all three games on its current homestand -- dropping the last two in shootouts.
