Kunitsyn defeats Andreev in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Igor Kunitsyn upset sixth-seeded fellow Russian Igor Andreev 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 Monday at the $1,226,500 Regions Morgan Keegan Championships in Memphis.

In other opening-round play, Australian qualifier Chris Guccione made 19 aces while beating American Vincent Spadea 7-6 (7-1), 7-6 (7-5) and Israeli qualifier Dudi Sela defeated American Bobby Reynolds 7-6 (7-4), 6-2.

This week's top seeds are American Andy Roddick, Argentine Juan Martin Del Potro, American James Blake and Swede Robin Soderling.

Roddick will open against reigning Memphis champion Steve Darcis and Blake will meet former top-ranked star Lleyton Hewitt of Australia. Darcis beat Soderling in last year's finale.

The winner will get $300,000.
