Nate Robinson takes NBA Slam Dunk crown

PHOENIX, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- Nate Robinson of the New York Knicks won the fan vote Saturday in the 2009 NBA Slam Dunk Contest, part of the all-star festivities in Phoenix.

Robinson took 52 percent of the vote, taking the crown from defending champion Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic.

On his next-to-last dunk, Howard glanced the ball off the backboard and caught it in flight before slamming it home. On his final dunk, he jammed it from the foul line but video replays showed his foot crossed the line.

Robinson, a 5' 9" guard, lobbed a pass from the left wing, caught up with it, passed it between his legs and then brought it over his head for a reverse dunk. He followed that up with a one-handed jam over Howard.

Robinson also won the dunk competition at the 2006 all-star session.
