DETROIT, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- Jordan Leopold's shootout goal Sunday gave the Colorado Avalanche a 6-5 win over the Detroit Red Wings.
Leopold rifled in a forehand shot in the fifth round of the shootout, raising Colorado's record to 3-0 against the Red Wings this season.
Five Colorado players -- Ian Laperriere, Ruslan Salei, Marek Svatos, Ben Guite and Milan Hejduk -- scored in regulation and goaltender Andrew Raycroft turned back 40 Detroit shots.
Marian Hossa and Dan Cleary each scored two goals for Detroit, Jiri Hudler added another and Chris Osgood blocked 23 shots.
