Nadal, Murray reach Rotterdam semis

ROTTERDAM, Netherlands, Feb. 13 (UPI) -- Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray won their quarterfinal matches Thursday to reach the semifinals of the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament in the Netherlands.

Nadal -- ranked No. 1 in the world and the reigning Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon champion -- beat seventh-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 6-4. Tsonga served 26 aces but he also double-faulted seven times before losing to Nadal in 2 hours, 40 minutes.

Nadal faces fifth-seeded Gael Monfils of France, after Monfils' 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 victory over countryman Julien Benneteau Friday.

Murray, the second seed, was leading Frenchman Marc Gicquel 7-6 (7-2), 4-6, 3-0 Friday when Gicquel retired with a groin injury.

Murray, who has won 11 of his 12 matches this month, will face Mario Ancic of Croatia in the semifinals. Ancic beat 2007 Rotterdam champion Mikhail Youzhny of Russia 6-4, 6-2.
