RALEIGH, N.C., Feb. 12 (UPI) -- Tomas Vokoun made 42 saves Thursday night to record his fourth shutout of the season and lead the Florida Panthers to a 5-0 victory over Carolina.

It was the 29th NHL career shutout for Vokoun and brought the Panthers their fourth win in five games. Florida won for just the second time in 17 trips to Raleigh.

Vokoun stopped 19 shots in the first period while Florida was taking a 2-0 lead.

Nathan Horton opened the scoring 7:31 into the game and Richard Zednik added his 11th of the year with 7:11 to play in the first period.

Anthony Stewart, Gregory Campbell and Michael Frolik produced second-period goals.

Carolina missed a chance to move past Florida into second place in the Southeast Division. Instead, the Panthers now lead the Hurricanes by three points.

Cam Ward allowed four goals on just 13 shots and was replaced by Michael Leighton midway through the second period.

Carolina was blanked for the first time this season.
