EDMONTON, Alberta, Feb. 12 (UPI) -- Ales Hemsky finished off a four-goal Edmonton first period Wednesday and the Oilers went on to crush Montreal 7-2.
Edmonton handed the Canadiens their seventh consecutive road loss and Montreal has four games left on its current six-game trip.
Sam Gagner, Zach Stortini, Andrew Cogliano and Hemsky scored first-period goals with Hemsky's tally coming with only 26 seconds left in the frame.
Mathieu Dandenault managed to score for Montreal just 10 seconds after Hemsky's goal, but that did not touch off a Canadiens comeback.
Edmonton equaled its largest goal output of the season. The Oilers defeated Columbus 7-2 on Nov. 18.
Dwyane Roloson got the win by making 36 saves. Carey Price surrendered all seven goals on 27 shots.
