PEBBLE BEACH, Calif., Feb. 12 (UPI) -- Robert Garrigus and Dustin Johnson shot matching 7-under-par 65s Thursday and share the lead through 18 holes at the PGA AT&T Pebble Beach (Calif.) Pro-Am.
The tournament features professionals teaming with amateurs throughout the week, with golfers rotating over three courses for the first three rounds. Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill and Poppy Hills are the three layouts and Pebble Beach takes over in the final round.
Garrigus, playing Spyglass, overcame a double-bogey at the par 5 seventh, finishing with five birdies.
Johnson played Pebble Beach and began his day with an eagle at the par 4 first hole. His bogey-free round included an eagle at the seventh and five birdies.
"It was kind of nice to finish with a blaze there," Garrigus said.
Former PGA Champion Rich Beem, Vaughn Taylor and Charley Hoffman all shot 6-under 66 and share third place.
Among other notables, three-time winner Phil Mickelson shot even-par 72, and reigning PGA Tour player of the year Padraig Harrington shot 2-over 74.
