NEW YORK, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- Ryan Callahan capped a big night Wednesday by scoring the game-winner in the New York Rangers' 5-4 shootout win over the Washington Capitals.

Markus Naslund and Paul Mara also scored goals, and Scott Gomez had two assists. Netminder Henrik Lundqvist made 26 saves on 30 shots for the Rangers, who broke their five-game losing streak and avenged three earlier losses this season to Washington.

The Capitals got two goals from defenseman Mike Green, and one each from both Tomas Fleischmann and Eric Fehr.

Goaltender Jose Theodore was beaten four times on 32 shots before Callahan's game-winner, a shot that ricocheted of the iron then dribbled home.

Green's 49 points (21 goals, 28 assists) make him a leading candidate for the Norris Trophy as the NHL's top defenseman. He equaled an NHL record by scoring in his seventh straight contest.
