ST. PAUL, Minn., Feb. 11 (UPI) -- Antti Miettinen broke up a tie game with 1:11 left in regulation Wednesday, lifting Minnesota to a 3-2 victory over Colorado.

The Wild have won four out of their last five games.

Niklas Backstrom made 20 saves to get the win and was backed up by goals from Pierre-Marc Bouchard and Owen Nolan.

Minnesota took a 2-1 lead into the third period, but Ryan Smyth tied it 7:23 into the frame with a power-play goal. Smyth scored after Derek Boogaard was assessed a double-minor for hooking and cross-checking.

The contest appeared headed for overtime before Miettinen put a wrist shot past Andrew Raycroft.

Raycroft allowed three goals on 26 shots, leading to Colorado's third straight loss and its seventh in nine games.
