DAYTON, Ohio, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- Chris Wright led a second-half charge Wednesday that brought Dayton a 71-58 victory over No. 14 Xavier.

It was the Flyers' first win over the Musketeers in seven tries and moved Dayton into a second-place tie with Xavier in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Saint Joseph's leads the league with a 7-1 record and hosts Temple Thursday.

Wright scored 19 points and Dayton closed the game on a 36-24 surge that broke open a close contest. Marcus Johnson added 13 points for the Flyers (22-3, 8-2 Atlantic 10).

It was Dayton's eighth win in nine games. The Flyers' only loss in that stretch was a 79-66 setback against Charlotte last weekend.

The victory came despite the loss of guard Rob Lowery, who suffered a knee injury in the first half and did not return.

Xavier (20-4, 8-2) has dropped two straight. Derrick Brown led the Musketeers with 17 points and B.J. Raymond had 12.
