Davydenko returns with win in AMRO World

ROTTERDAM, Netherlands, Feb. 9 (UPI) -- Russian Nikolay Davydenko, playing for the first time since early last month, was a first-round winner Monday in Rotterdam.

The third-seeded Davydenko beat fellow Russian Igor Andreev 6-3, 6-2 at the $1.86 million ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament, after missing the Australian Open because of a heel injury.

In other opening round action, Russian Mikhail Youzhny beat Frenchman Laurent Recouderc 6-4, 6-4; Italian Andreas Seppi beat Dutchman Thiemo De Bakker 6-7 (5-7) 6-2, 7-6 (7-1); Frenchman Julien Benneteau beat Spaniard Feliciano Lopez 6-4, 5-7, 6-2; and Russian Dmitry Tursunov, who won this tournament two years ago, beat Frenchman Arnaud Clement 6-0, 6-3.

This week's top seeds are world No. 1 Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray. Nadal, the reigning Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon champion, will open his week against Italian Simone Bolelli. U.S. Open runner-up Murray will take on Croat Ivan Ljubicic.
