DALLAS, Feb. 8 (UPI) -- Dirk Nowitzki had 44 points Saturday night, 14 in overtime, to lead the Dallas Mavericks past Chicago 114-110.

Jose Barea had 20 points and Josh Howard scored 13 for Dallas, which won for the fifth time in its last six games. Jason Terry left the game with a broken finger after playing just 16 minutes and finishing with eight points.

Terry, Dallas' second-leading scorer this season, came into the game with an average of 20.2 points and 3.7 assists per game this season.

Ben Gordon scored 28 points to lead six Bulls in double figures. Tyrus Thomas had 23 points and 12 rebounds, and Derrick Rose had 22 points and nine assists for Chicago, which has lost two of its last three.

Thomas opened the scoring in overtime with a layup but Nowitzki connected on three straight baskets to put the Mavericks ahead 103-99 and Dallas then went up by six with 1:20 remaining in the extra session.

Nowitzki sank four free throws in the final 15 seconds -- and the Mavs needed them all as Gordon hit a 3-point shot at the buzzer to make it a one-point game.
