ZAGREB, Croatia, Feb. 4 (UPI) -- Marin Cilic, who has lost only one match in 2009, reached the quarterfinals Wednesday at the Zagreb Indoors -- the first European stop on this year's ATP Tour.
Cilic has a 10-1 record this year, including a victory in Chennai last month. His only setback since the start of the year came in a four-set match against Juan Martin Del Potro in the fourth round of the Australian Open.
The second-seeded Cilic advanced past the third round by defeating Florent Serra 6-2, 7-5. He will take on Antonio Veic in the quarters. Veic stayed alive in the event by ousting Evgeny Korolev 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4.
Ivan Ljubicic, who was the runner-up in Zagreb a year ago, fell victim to Viktor Troicki 6-4, 5-7, 6-4.
In opening-round matches, Paul-Henri Mathieu survived against Roko Karanusic 6-7 (6-8), 6-1, 7-6 (7-3) and Victor Hanescu was a 6-3, 7-5 winner over Lovro Zovko.
