Langenbrunner is top NHL star

NEW YORK, Feb. 2 (UPI) -- New Jersey right wing Jamie Langenbrunner was selected the NHL's top star of the week, the league said Monday.

Langenbrunner was picked for the top NHL weekly award for games played Jan. 26-Feb. 1. Also honored were Pittsburgh center Sidney Crosby and Washington defenseman Mike Green.

Langenbrunner lead the NHL with six goals last week. He had three game-winning goals as the Devils picked up three victories on the week. He had two goals in each game, with overtime goals finishing off victories against Boston and Pittsburgh.

Crosby totaled three goals and five assists, and led the NHL in points for the week. His season total of 68 points is second best in the league. His highlight game came against the New York Rangers when he had a goal and three assists in a 6-2 win.

Green had seven points on the week in helping the Capitals get five out of a possible six points. He had a goal and three assists when Washington closed the week with a 7-4 win over Ottawa.
