BOSTON, Jan. 31 (UPI) -- Tuukka Rask's first career shutout Saturday boosted the Boston Bruins to a 1-0 victory over the New York Rangers.
The only goal in the contest was Marc Savard's 19th, coming at 19:37 of the second period.
Rask, who was playing in just his fifth NHL game, turned away 15 shots in the third period alone and 35 in all for the Bruins, who rebounded from a 4-3 overtime loss at home in their previous outing against New Jersey on Thursday.
The Bruins' last seven games have been decided by one goal and they are 4-1-2 in that span.
Dennis Wideman and Milan Lucic got assists on Savard's goal.
Savard scored when Wideman's slap shot went wide of the net.
Henrik Lundqvist was credited with stopping 26-of-27 shots in the Rangers' second straight loss.
Despite the loss, they are 10-2-2 against Boston since the start of the 2005-06 season.
