EDMONTON, Alberta, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- Dwayne Roloson took a shutout into the third period Friday and made 30 saves to help bring the Edmonton Oilers a 3-1 victory over Minnesota.
The Oilers broke a three-way tie with Minnesota and Vancouver and moved into second place behind Calgary in the Northwest Division.
It was Edmonton's fourth win in five games. The Oilers dominated through two periods thanks to Roloson, who bounced back from a brutal outing against Buffalo Tuesday, when he was removed after just 10 minutes, having given up three goals on eight shots.
Ales Hemsky and Ethan Moreau scored first-period goals and Lubomir Visnovsky delivered a power-play score 3 minutes into the second period.
Minnesota did not produce a goal until James Sheppard beat Roloson with a slapshot 38 seconds into the third.
Niklas Backstrom opened in goal for Minnesota and gave up three goals on 11 shots. Josh Harding replaced him and made 18 saves the rest of the way.
