SUNRISE, Fla., Jan. 29 (UPI) -- Tomas Vokoun allowed only a second-period power-play goal and made 35 saves Thursday night, leading the Florida Panthers to a 5-1 whipping of Montreal.

The Panthers beat the Canadiens for the first time in seven tries. Florida's last victory over Montreal had come Dec. 18, 2007.

Jay Bouwmeester and Stephen Weiss gave Florida a 2-0 lead after one period and Montreal cut its deficit in half 53 seconds into the second period on a goal from Robert Lang.

Vokoun was perfect the rest of the way to win his second straight since the all-star break.

Carey Price allowed all five Florida goals on 36 shots.

Florida's fourth goal came on a penalty shot by Radek Dvorak after he had been held by Michael Komisarek on a breakaway attempt.
