
IOWA CITY, Iowa, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- Kalin Lucas and Durrell Summers combined to make 16-of-22 shots Thursday and lead No. 9 Michigan State to a 71-56 victory over Iowa.
The Spartans opened a 13-point halftime lead and were not threatened during the second period, winning for the 13th time in 14 games. Michigan State leads the Big Ten Conference with a 7-1 record and improved to 17-3 overall.
Lucas scored 24 points and Summers had 21. Goran Suton and Delvon Roe dominated the inside while teaming for 21 rebounds. Michigan State owned a 23-9 rebounding advantage in the first half.
Iowa (12-9, 2-6) was led by Jeff Peterson with 14 points. The Hawkeyes have lost five out of their last six games.
Michigan State has played six games on the opposition's home court this season and has won all of them.
