
EDMONTON, Alberta, Jan. 28 (UPI) -- Drew Stafford's second career hat trick helped the Buffalo Sabres spank the Edmonton Oilers 10-2 Tuesday.
Buffalo spread the offense around with 10 Sabres getting at least two points. Tim Connolly had two goals and one assist, and Thomas Vanek had a goal and two assists. Nathan Paetsch and Jochen Hecht both had a goal and an assist for the Sabres, who have won four of five overall.
Buffalo goalie Ryan Miller made 36 saves.
The Sabres sent starting Oilers goalie Dwayne Roloson to the showers, scoring three times on just eight shots. Backup Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers didn't really fare much better, allowing seven goals on 29 shots.
Edmonton had won three in a row before this debacle, which tied a franchise record for most goals allowed on home ice and set the team record for biggest margin of defeat.
Inconsequentially, Erik Cole and Robert Nilsson scored for Edmonton.
