LOUISVILLE, Ky., Jan. 28 (UPI) -- Edgar Sosa paced a second-half surge Wednesday that sent No. 7 Louisville storming to its eighth straight victory -- 80-54 over South Florida.
The Cardinals turned what was a one-point game at halftime into a rout to stay unbeaten in the Big East Conference.
Sosa scored 16 points and Samardo Samuels hit 7-of-8 shots from the field while scoring 14 for the Cardinals (16-3, 7-0). Louisville is tied atop the Big East with Marquette.
The Cardinals will meet West Virginia Saturday and then take on No. 2 Connecticut Monday in what will be one of the league's key regular-season games.
Louisville owned a 33-32 lead at halftime and then limited South Florida to five points during the first 9:30 of the second period.
Dominique Jones scored 16 points to lead the Bulls (7-13, 2-6).
