CINCINNATI, Jan. 28 (UPI) -- Dion Dixon kicked off a game-closing, 9-2 run with a three-pointer Wednesday that brought Cincinnati a 65-57 win over No. 23 Georgetown.
Cincinnati (14-7, 4-4 Big East) won for the fourth time in five games, outlasting the Hoyas in a contest that was close throughout.
The Bearcats owned a one-point lead when Dixon made his three-point shot with 4:38 to play. Georgetown could manage only a Curtis Wright layup the rest of the way, a basket that brought the Hoyas within five with 1:17 remaining.
Deonta Vaughn led Cincinnati with 20 points and Mike Williams added 12 points with six rebounds.
Georgetown, which won 12 of its first 15 games this season, has now dropped four in a row.
Chris Wright had 15 points to lead the Hoyas (12-7, 3-5). Georgetown had beaten Cincinnati in their four previous meetings.
