NEW YORK, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- Scott Gomez had a goal and an assist Tuesday, keying the New York Rangers' 3-2 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes.

Lauri Korpikoski and Brandon Dubinsky also scored for the Rangers, who have earned a point in six of their last seven games (5-1-1). Markus Naslund had two assists and New York goalie Steve Valiquette stopped 33 shots.

Ryan Bayda and Tuomo Ruutu scored for the Hurricanes, who have lost six of their last eight. Cam Ward allowed three goals on 31 shots.

Dubinsky made it 3-1 with 7:50 remaining in the third period. Carolina scored 25 seconds later after Rangers defenseman Wade Redden blocked a Ruutu shot, but Ruutu got the puck back and fired it over Valiquette's glove.
