Pettitte sticking with Yankee pinstripes

NEW YORK, Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Andy Pettitte decided Monday he will wear Yankees pinstripes one more year, signing a deal with New York reportedly worth up to $12 million.

Though the team didn't disclose the financial terms, the New York Post said it provides a base salary of $6 million that could be doubled if he reaches all his incentives.

Pettitte, 36, hauled down $16 million in 2008 when he went 14-14 with a 4.54 earned-run average. He was hampered with shoulder pain during the season, his first non-winning year as a major leaguer.

Pettitte rejoined the Yankees in 2007 after three years in Houston. He pitched the first nine years of his career with New York.

Pettitte ranks third in Yankees history in strikeouts (1,574), fourth in wins (178) and games started (343), and eighth in innings pitched (2,212).
