NBA: LA Lakers 108, LA Clippers 97

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 22 (UPI) -- Andrew Bynum poured in a season-high 42 points Wednesday and the Los Angeles Lakers used a strong third period to down the Los Angeles Clippers 108-97.

Bynum stepped up on what was an off night for Kobe Bryant, who suffered a dislocated ring finger on his shooting hand in the Lakers' win over Cleveland Monday.

Bryant played Wednesday, but made only 5-of-15 shots from the field and scored 18 points.

Bynum was 17-of-24 and helped the Lakers blow the game open in the third quarter. After owning a three-point advantage at the break, the Lakers outscored the Clippers 30-18 in the third.

Lamar Odom added 19 for the Lakers, who shot 50 percent from the field.

The Clippers were led by 20 from Al Thornton.

Bynum's previous season high had been 24 points, established Jan. 11 against Miami.
