
PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- Mike Knuble's 17th and 18th goals this season secured the Philadelphia Flyers' 5-3 win against the Atlanta Thrashers Wednesday.
Knuble scored at 12:12 of the third period to give Philadelphia a 4-2 cushion, and into an empty net at 19:19 to cap the scoring.
Scott Hartnell, Darroll Powe and Randy Jones each scored once. Jeff Carter and Simon Gagne both had two assists.
Goalie Antero Nittymaki made 28 saves on 31 shots for the Flyers, who head the All-Star break with four wins in their last six outings.
They have won 13 in a row against Atlanta since November 2005 and 16 of the last 17 games between the teams. The Flyers have outscored Atlanta by a 16-6 margin this season.
Atlanta's Eric Perrin, Ilya Kovalchuk and Chris Thorburn all scored in the third period.
Kari Lehtonen allowed four goals on 32 shots for the Thrashers, whose season-high three-game winning streak ended.
Both teams went 0-for-4 on the power play.
