NBA: New Orleans 102, New Jersey 92

NEW ORLEANS, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- Chris Paul made 11-of-18 shots and scored 29 points Wednesday, pushing New Orleans past New Jersey 102-92.

The Hornets won their third straight and their fourth game out of five. Peja Stojakovic chipped in 20 points and 10 rebounds, and Rasual Butler had 14 points.

New Orleans played without starters David West (back spasms) and Tyson Chandler (ankle).

New Jersey lost for the fourth straight time despite 20 points from Vince Carter. Bobby Simmons contributed 16.

New Orleans owned a one-point lead at halftime, then opened the third period on a 17-4 run. The Nets came no closer than five the rest of the way.

New Jersey opened a four-game road trip.
