Meeks resigns as Colts defensive coach

INDIANAPOLIS, Jan. 20 (UPI) -- Ron Meeks, the Indianapolis Colts' defensive coordinator for the last seven seasons, resigned Tuesday.

Meeks, 54, joined the Colts in 2002 after one season with the St. Louis Rams.

Meeks directed a defense that ranked seventh in points allowed and 11th in total yardage in 2008. The Colts finished first points allowed and third in total yardage in 2007.
