TORONTO, Jan. 19 (UPI) -- Cam Ward stopped 35 shots Monday to post his second shutout of the season and lead the Carolina Hurricanes to a 2-0 victory over Toronto.

Joe Corvo and Chad LaRose scored for the Hurricanes, who ended a five-game losing streak.

Vesa Toskala made 32 saves for the Maple Leafs, who have lost six of their last seven games.

Carolina got both of its goals in the second period. Corvo's shot went through Toskala's pads for a 1-0 Carolina lead with 3:34 left in the second period, and LaRose got his goal with five seconds left in the period when he was left alone in front of the net and scored on a pass from Matt Cullen.

Ward made 15 saves in the third period.
