Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

AMHERST, Mass., Jan. 19 (UPI) -- Kevin Morris has been promoted from offensive coordinator to head football coach at the University of Massachusetts, the school said Monday.
Athletic Director John McCutcheon made the move just 10 days after Don Brown resigned the post to become defensive coordinator at the University of Maryland.
Morris joined the Minutemen staff in 2004.
The Minutemen went a school-best 43-19 during Brown's five-year tenure and had two FCS playoff appearances, including a trip to the NCAA title game in 2006. The team went 7-5 in 2008.
Morris also was offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach under Brown at Northeastern from 2000-03.
