DENVER, Jan. 18 (UPI) -- Ryan Smyth and Milan Hejduk both scored their 300th NHL goal Sunday night and the Colorado Avalanche beat Calgary 6-2.
Smyth added two assists and Marek Svatos, Chris Stewart, Cody McLeod and Ruslan Salei scored goals for the Avalanche, who had lost three straight coming into the game. Peter Budaj made 39 saves for Colorado.
Michael Cammalleri and Rene Bourque scored goals and Curtis McElhinney -- in his third start of the season for Calgary -- yielded six goals on 39 shots in the Flames' second straight loss.
Svatos opened the scoring, putting away a rebound of Smyth's shot at 14:33 of the first. Two minutes later, Stewart picked up a loose puck and beat McElhinney to make it 2-0.
Calgary made it 2-1 when Cammalleri scored as time was running low on a two-man advantage for the Flames, but Smyth put the Avalanche ahead to stay when he scored on McElhinney with 13 minutes gone in the second period.
