DENVER, Jan. 17 (UPI) -- Shawn Horcoff scored the game-winning goal with 6:35 remaining in the third period Friday night, giving the Edmonton Oilers a 3-2 victory over Colorado.
The teams came into the game tied at the bottom of the Northwest Division with 45 points. Colorado lost its third in a row.
Edmonton twice took a one-goal lead on tallies by Steve Staios and Tom Gilbert, but Colorado came back to tie it on goals by Tyler Arnason and T.J. Hensick. Horcoff's goal, however, went unanswered thanks to a 34-save effort by Mathieu Garon.
Garon got the start after relieving Dwayne Roloson during a loss to San Jose last week. Roloson gave up a season-high five goals Thursday against Minnesota.
This was the first of a season-long, eight-game Colorado homestand.
