HOUSTON, Jan. 17 (UPI) -- Nebraska's Marlon Lucky rushed for 68 yards and one touchdown on seven carries Saturday, helping the East beat the West 24-19 in the Shrine Game.

The East defense came up with a big stop late in the fourth quarter. The West had four chances to score a touchdown after gaining a first-and-goal at the 5-yard line, but the East took over on downs with 1:51 left after Central Washington's Mike Reilly threw three straight incomplete passes.

Michigan State's Brian Hoyer was the leading passer for the East, hitting 3-of-4 passes for 60 yards. Penn State's Deon Butler caught three passes for 69 yards.

The West was led by Fresno State quarterback Tom Brandstater, who hit 10-of-19 passes for 159 yards and a TD. Colorado State's Gartrell Johnson carried the ball 10 time for 63 yards.
