COLUMBUS, Ohio, Jan. 16 (UPI) -- Travis Zajac and John Madden scored third-period goals 73 seconds apart Friday night to rally the New Jersey Devils past Columbus 2-1.

Kevin Weekes, who started in place of the struggling Scott Clemmensen in New Jersey's goal, made 26 saves to even his season record at 4-4.

Manny Malhotra scored the only goal of the first two periods, giving Columbus the advantage in its bid to win a fourth straight game.

Zajac, however, scored a power-play goal at 10:06 of the third and Madden soon followed with a wrist shot that beat Steve Mason. Zajac's goal came while Derek Dorsett was off the ice for tripping, one of only four minor penalties called during the entire game.

Mason, in the midst of a sensational rookie season, stopped 26 shots.

New Jersey won its second straight and is 3-1 thus far on a season-long, six-game road trip.
