SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 16 (UPI) -- Dion Phaneuf broke a tie with 3:57 to play Thursday night, giving the Calgary Flames a 3-2 decision over San Jose.

The Sharks had a three-game winning streak snapped and saw their lead in the Western Conference over Detroit dwindle to a single point.

San Jose had outscored its opponents during the three straight victories by a 15-4 margin and the Sharks had a 2-1 lead against the Flames.

Daymond Langkow tied it for Calgary midway through the second period with a power-play goal and Phaneuf snapped a shot past Evgeni Nabokov to win it.

Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 33 shots to get the victory, Calgary's fourth in a row.

Nabokov made 28 saves for San Jose.
