SYDNEY, Jan. 15 (UPI) -- Top-seeded Novak Djokovic moved into the semifinals of the Medibank International in Sydney Thursday with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Croatian Mario Ancic.

The tournament is a warm-up for the Australian Open, which Djokovic won last year.

The Serbian star will next go against Jarkko Nieminen of Finland, who won his semifinal match when his opponent, Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, withdrew with a back injury.

David Nalbandian of Argentina, seeded No. 4, and Richard Gasquet of France will clash in the other semi.

Nalbandian outlasted Australian veteran Lleyton Hewitt 7-6 (7-3), 7-5 and Gasquet eliminated countryman Jeremy Chardy 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) in the quarterfinals.
