DALLAS, Jan. 14 (UPI) -- A triple-double by Chris Paul Wednesday led New Orleans to the franchise's first regular-season win in Dallas in 11 years, a 104-97 victory over the Mavericks.
Paul scored 33 points, had 11 assists and claimed 10 rebounds. His seven steals brought him close to what would have been the fifth quadruple-double in NBA history.
The Hornets were still playing in Charlotte when they last won a regular-season game on the Mavericks' home court. That triumph came Jan. 24, 1998. New Orleans did record a playoff victory in Dallas last season as part of a first-round, five-game defeat of the Mavericks.
Paja Stojakovic and David West both chipped in 16 points for New Orleans, winners of seven out of 10.
Jason Terry had 28 for Dallas and Dirk Nowitzki scored 20. The Mavericks have lost four in a row.
Paul stole the ball and laid it in on two straight possessions, giving the Hornets a 98-89 lead with 3:30 to play.
