UNIONDALE, N.Y., Jan. 13 (UPI) -- Henrik Lundqvist made 33 saves Tuesday and was perfect over the final two periods, lifting the New York Rangers to a 2-1 win over the New York Islanders.
The Rangers overcame a 1-0 deficit after one period to hand the Islanders their fifth straight loss.
The Islanders also lost starting goaltender Joey MacDonald early in the second period after he suffered an undisclosed injury. He fell to the ice after making a save and had to be helped to the locker room.
MacDonald had been filling in for Rick DiPietro, the Islanders' No. 1 goaltender who is out indefinitely with a knee injury. Yann Danis replaced MacDonald and allowed two goals on 26 shots.
Chris Drury tied the game 12:31 into the second shot by beating Danis with a wrist shot and Nigel Dawes produced the game-winner less than 2 minutes later on the power play.
The Rangers moved a point in front of Philadelphia for the lead in the Atlantic Division.
