COL BKB: Marquette 75, West Virginia 53

MILWAUKEE, Jan. 10 (UPI) -- Jerel McNeal scored 26 points for No. 15 Marquette, which broke open a close game late in the second half Saturday and finished off No. 22 West Virginia 75-53.

The Golden Eagles (15-2, 4-0 Big East) trailed at halftime but went on a 13-2 run, started by a basket by McNeal with about 8 minutes remaining, and pulled away for the decisive win.

Marquette forced 13 West Virginia turnovers.

Dominic James contributed 17 points and Wesley Matthews 13 for the Eagles.

The Mountaineers (11-4, 1-2) got 16 points from Da'Sean Butler and 13 points and eight assists from Alex Ruoff.
