Tommie Harris' wife dies

GLENDALE, Ariz., Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Kyle Turris put Phoenix in front midway through the third period and the Coyotes held on to end a two-game losing streak by defeating Tampa Bay 3-2.
Turris deflected a shot from the point by David Hale 8:09 in the third period and Ilya Bryzgalov made the one-goal lead stand up. He saved 22 shots and halted a personal three-game skid.
Olli Jokinen and Peter Mueller produced the other Phoenix goals.
Andrej Meszaros and Jeff Halpern scored for Tampa Bay, losers of four out of five. Mike Smith made 24 saves.
Phoenix had been beaten by Tampa Bay six straight times dating to January 2002. This was the first meeting between the two teams since Feb. 13, 2007.
