LOS ANGELES, Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Alexander Frolov scored the tie-breaking goal 7:43 into the third period Thursday, giving the Los Angeles Kings a 4-3 decision over Anaheim.
The Kings overcame a hat trick by Bobby Ryan to salvage a split of the home-and-home series. The Ducks defeated Los Angeles 3-1 in Anaheim Tuesday.
Los Angeles climbed out of the cellar in the Pacific Division, moving a point in front of Dallas.
The Ducks faced a 3-0 deficit with the second period about to run out, but Ryan sparked a comeback by scoring with 46 seconds left in the frame. Ryan then tallied 16 seconds into the third and produced another goal 79 seconds later.
Having tied the contest, however, Anaheim was called for too many men on the ice and Frolov took advantage by sending a wrist shot past Jonas Hiller.
Hiller replaced Jean-Sebastien Giguere after Giguere had given up a goal with six seconds left in the first period to Dustin Brown and another 37 seconds into the second period to Wayne Simmonds.
The Ducks had won their previous two games.
