DENVER, Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Backup goaltender Andrew Raycroft made 43 saves in winning his sixth straight start Thursday, bringing the Colorado Avalanche a 2-1 victory over Chicago.

Raycroft, second on the Colorado depth chart behind Peter Budaj, improved to 8-1 this season.

Wojtek Wolski poked in the winning goal with 6:59 left in regulation, giving Colorado back-to-back victories following a three-game losing streak.

Ryan Smyth scored in the first period and assisted on Wolski's goal.

Chicago suffered only its fourth loss in 15 games. It was the first loss for the Blackhawks to a team other than Detroit since a 5-2 setback to Los Angeles Nov. 29.

Brian Campbell scored Chicago's goal to tie it in the second period and Nikolai Khabibulin made 30 saves.
