
ORLANDO, Fla., Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Hedo Turkoglu scored 21 points Friday and the Orlando Magic used a huge first quarter to defeat Atlanta for the second time in three days 121-87.
By sweeping the home-and-home series, Orlando moved six games in front of Atlanta at the top of the Southeast Division.
It was the Magic's 11th straight home victory, one shy of the franchise record set in 2006. Orlando's last home loss came Nov. 22 against Houston.
Orlando scored 41 points in the first period, the most by any NBA team in any quarter this season.
Dwight Howard added 16 points for the Magic, who have won three in a row and 12 of 14 overall.
After putting together a six-game winning streak, the Hawks have lost three out of four. Acie Law led Atlanta with 16 points.
Orlando raced to a 38-point halftime lead after opening the game on a 22-4 run.
