OKLAHOMA CITY, Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Tracy McGrady made two free throws with 8 seconds left Friday night to give Houston a four-point lead and the Rockets held on to down Oklahoma City 98-96.
McGrady finished with 26 points and Houston got 14 from Yao Ming, Luis Scola and Von Waver to win its second straight.
The two foul shots by McGrady put Houston in front 97-93, after which Jeff Green hit a three-pointer for Oklahoma City with 2 seconds remaining. Houston's Rafer Alston was immediately fouled and he made one of two from the line.
Oklahoma City was then unable to get off a good shot. The Thunder turned the ball over twice in the closing 2 minutes to hinder their chances of pulling off their sixth win of the season.
Kevin Durant scored 27 for Oklahoma City and Russell Westbrook had 15.
