DETROIT, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- Niklas Kronwall assisted on half of Detroit's goals Thursday night and the Red Wings methodically swept past Dallas 6-1.

Six players scored for the Red Wings, who built a 4-0 lead through two periods behind the goaltending of Chris Osgood.

Osgood lost his shutout bid 38 seconds into the third period, but made 19 saves to run his record this season to 14-2-4.

Martin Hossa opened the scoring 4:07 into the game and Daniel Cleary tipped in a shot with 8:32 to play in the first. Kirk Maltby and Tomas Holmstrom turned the game into a runaway with second-period goals.

Detroit won its fifth straight and its 15th at home in 20 games.

Marty Turco allowed four goals on 18 shots before being replaced by Tobias Stephan, who let in two goals on 14 shots during the third period.
