NBA: New Orleans 116, LA Lakers 105

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- David West scored 40 points Tuesday, equaling his career best in a 116-105 New Orleans come-from-behind victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.

West, who put in 27 of his points in the second half, also had 11 rebounds as the Hornets put an end to LA's 15-game home winning streak.

Chris Paul complemented West with 32 points and 15 rebounds.

New Orleans has won five of its last six games.

The Lakers, who had won six in a row overall, got 39 points from Kobe Bryant, but just two in the critical fourth quarter. Derek Fisher added 19.

The Hornets were down by five points with about 8 1/2 minutes left in the game when they went on a 15-0 run that put them in control. West accounted for nine points during the surge.

New Orleans closed out the contest on a 22-6 run overall.
