NBA: New Jersey 100, Memphis 89

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Vince Carter led the way with 25 points and 12 assists Wednesday, carrying New Jersey to a 100-89 victory over Memphis.

Devin Harris, the Nets' leading scorer with 23.1 points per game, sat out with a strained right hamstring.

Yi Jianlian added 20 points and Brook Lopez 17, helping New Jersey win for the third time in four games.

Memphis, losers of six out of seven, got 26 points from O.J. Mayo and 23 from Rudy Gay.

New Jersey held a 10-point lead going into the fourth quarter and Memphis could not mount a challenge. The Nets built their advantage to 14 with 4 minutes to go.
