BRISBANE, Australia, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Top-seeded Ana Ivanovic fought off two match points to beat Roberta Vinci Wednesday and advance to the quarterfinals of the Brisbane International in Australia.
The 21-year-old Serbian tennis star battled back after dropping the first set and outlasted the Italian qualifier, 6-7 (4-7), 7-5, 6-1.
France's Amelie Mauresmo, seeded fifth, also lost the first set before going on to eliminate countrywoman Julie Coin, 5-7, 6-2, 7-6 (13-11).
Ivanovic and Mauresmo will clash in the quarterfinals.
Olga Govortsova of Belarus and Sara Errani of Italy also won their matches and will meet in the quarters.
Victoria Azarenka of Belarus will take on Czech Lucie Safarova and Marion Bartoli of France meets Italy's Tathiana Garbin in other quarterfinal matches.
